When we first returned to Texas after several years in Los Angeles, one of our California daughters came for a brief visit. As much as we loved returning to our home state, thoughts of my disconnect with our family members in California had been difficult to process during the previous weeks. I had grieved and stressed and cried and prayed. Now, here was Shannon, and after just a few days, she was saying her goodbyes. Heart racing, tears exploding, I dashed to the bathroom to get a grip on myself.
Through my emotional breakdown I remembered, “You wrote a book about what to do right now!” I placed my hand over my heart and prayed for help. Incredibly — AGAIN — God answered and calmed me. He is remarkable!
But as for me, I will sing about your power.
Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.
For you have been my refuge,
a place of safety when I am in distress.
