God called us to California for a special assignment, but after five years in the Los Angeles area, it was time to return to Texas. Returning to our home state, we realize God has more for us to do here.
As we crossed the Texas state line, the powerful words from the Texas state song came to mind.
“Texas , Our Texas” by William J. Marsh and Gladys Yoakum Wright
Texas, our Texas! All hail the mighty State!
Texas, our Texas! So wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, Withstanding ev’ry test;
O Empire wide and glorious, You stand supremely blest.
[Refrain] God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, Thro’out the ages long.

As you read the refrain, you might consider the impact of blessings prayed over the years–not just for people, but states and countries, too. These words have been sung by citizens of the Lone Star State since 1929!
Spoken blessings are indeed powerful. May we all be reminded to incorporate them into our daily conversations and prayers.
For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—
a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills;
Deuteronomy 8:7 (NIV)
