Persevere

Writers are notoriously insecure, as they sit alone in their favorite meditative  spot and weave their words for others to read. We wonder if, after long hours of creative work, anyone will want to read our product anyway. After a year of pounding the keyboard for my manuscript on heart healing, I’ve had moments when I was ready to kick the laptop under the furniture.

But, then, I ask God for encouragement and He always comes through.

I spent an hour last night on the phone with a domain consultant. In an effort to help me select the correct domains he asked what I was writing about. I explained the focus on God’s healing when we feel broken or discouraged. Marriages were definitely part of the conversation.

Before we hung up, he said, “I know your book will be successful. There’s so much hurting out in the world.” He paused before adding, “My parents were divorced.”

He didn’t need to say more. My grandparents had previous marriages. My parents were divorced, too. I was divorced. We needn’t look far to see the emotional damage that settles into the souls of those whose families have split. There’s a ripple effect of heartache which produces lots of candidates for heart healing.

I will persevere. There is hope for the hurting and I am excited about telling of the One who can take away the pain.
